In Memorium: Nigel Adams

Image
Nigel Adams (Speer) Spouse of Legacy Founder Evelyn Adams Beloved husband of Evelyn Adams. Father to Blaine Adams, Grayson Adams, and Penny Adams. Above all else, Nigel strived to make his family laugh, smile, and have a good time, facing each day with a smile on his face. A lover of music, his favorite past time was to sit on his porch and listen to his daughter as she played her violin. His memory will forever live on through her music. Thank you, Nigel, for being such a great husband and father.

Gen 1, Chapter 5: All Good Things Come To An End

The Adams' home felt like it was a thousand people emptier without Blaine's presence (he had moved in with Zara and her family immediately after their wedding.) That was especially true for the lone man of the house because since he had retired, Nigel usually had the house to himself. Not like he had wanted it this way, not at this point in his life. All he'd end up doing while his wife and kids were out was sitting on the front porch and drinking juice until his Penny came home, then she'd play her violin for him (that was always his favorite part of his day) and then the rest of the family would come home. (Grayson was always neck deep in the little Video Gaming club that he had started with his friends, which is why he usually got home later than his sister.) Today, though, it felt like something was going to be different. He didn't know how, though, because up until that point, he had simply been watching his dearest treasure turn the corner on her way home ...

Gen 1, Chapter 4: Silver and Bronze

If you asked him back when he was young and fit, being so old, gray, and tired that he had to have his teenage son help out with his pair of new toddlers wouldn't have been Nigel's idea of the perfect way to spend his days as an old man. That's right, they now had two toddlers they had to juggle to get to daycare on time; The middle child, Grayson, who was already little Mr. Genius, and his little sister (by about six minutes) Penny, who had her father's copper skin and deep red hair, fitting to her name. Their Goldie would've probably been older than Blaine by now, and sometimes they had to hit themselves for waiting so long to have more children, but knowing that whatever force of fate had given them another chance at raising a little girl made the passing days all worth it. Sure, they were now forced to talk about grim topics such as "How are the children going to take care of themselves when we die?" and "What will we have Blaine do when he...

Gen 1, Chapter 3: Amazing Blaine

For both of the parents, it felt like an eternity before Evelyn was ready to try to expand the family again. In between births, everyone around them watched as her mental health slowly crumbled. It almost felt like Evelyn herself had become her lost child, and she truly felt that acting the way she was going to fill the void that had been left by the loss. Time heals all wounds, however, and they were overjoyed to be expecting again. Every time the couple talked, it was about what they could do for the child. So, there was lots of house cleaning, lots of expansion on the makeshift nursery, anything and everything to bring their next child into this world smoothly. Soon, little baby Blaine Adams was born, and he was quickly his parent's pride and joy. With every milestone and achievement, his parents grew more and more proud of their son, all the while thinking of how far they'd come since the first time they tried their hands at parenting. Of course, Goldie was never compl...

Gen 1, Chapter 2: All That Glitters Isn't Gold

Although Evelyn made it clear to Nigel that she wanted a child as soon as they were moved in with each other, she never in a million years thought he'd actually accept her request. All throughout her pregnancy, Evelyn was on cloud nine; The pregnancy went as smoothly as pregnancies could come, and the growing nursery that the couple was building together only made her more excited to bring their baby into world. And soon, the baby was brought into the world, as a little girl named Goldie; Either because they were hoping she would get her mother's golden locks or, even if she didn't, she would simply be the golden treasure of her parents' eyes. She was, if only for a brief period of time. Never in a million years did Evelyn ever think that one of the days where she stayed home to paint would end up being the day that defined her life. Call the doctor. "I'm sorry, Ms. Adams... but there's nothing we can do. Your daughter's dead. From the looks ...

Gen 1, Chapter 1: Eve(lyn) Adams

Hello. I know nobody reading this knows who I am, but we'll get there. Before I start telling you this crazy (but somehow, all totally true) story, let me tell you about the woman who started it all. Okay, so it doesn't start out all that crazy, but we'll get there pretty soon. Evelyn Adams came from a small family in the small town of Pleasantview. Her family wasn't poor, but they weren't rich either; They were just your average family of a mother, a father, and a daughter. Needless to say, her life growing up was very typical. No tragic backstory, no bad blood between any family members, nothing. Her life, while she was growing up at least, was about as interesting as watching a wall of beige paint dry. Luckily for you, her life growing up isn't what you're here to read about. As soon as she came of age, though, she broke free of her life's constant pattern of normalcy; She risked her family ties and moved to Newcrest in an attempt to start anew,...
